Default Idea for Chipper's Heir Apparent

We are getting to the point where Chipper has to learn to just stand still. Because if he moves he gets hurt. Okay, that was an attempt at humorizing something sad to watch as we all love our boy. Still it makes sense to find an heir and I think I have the perfect guy for the job; Alex Gordon of the Royals. Once touted, in some circles, as the 2nd coming of ARod, Alex has been a big disappointment and even lost his job to Albert Callaspo. But Alex is just 36 years old and his minor league career was close to brilliant. Coming to the Braves we could have Chipper work with him and groom him to take over. He won't come at an enormous price but just something decent (Matt Diaz? A pitcher?) Thoughts?

I think they got that Cuban SS so Escobar could move over to 3b..... at least that's the way I interpeted it anyway.

I would love the move. Intensely. Gordon is a stud.

However, I think he's 26. Cause if he's 36 than we would need a heir apparent for the heir apparent.

Doesn't the heir need to be apparent before their could be an heir apparent? If so, we have no heir apparent to Chipper at 3B.

He'll probably play out the duration of his contract, so we've got a couple of years to develop a replacement. Better get started soon.

Put the guy in LF and have him sub in for Chip when he hurts his fingernails and is out for a few weeks.

All kidding aside, our offense would be great with this addition.

I am not sold on Escobar for the long term at SS anyways, so if we signed Gordon long term and this SS in the minors takes 2-3 years to develop than it'll probably be perfect timing as Escobar might be out by then. I know Chip will be.

2013 lineup?

C- McCann
1b - Freeman
2b - Prado
SS - Cuban SS
3b - Alex Gordon
LF - Somebody not named Diaz or Cabrera. Please. I like full time players myself!
CF - Nate McClouth or Jordan Schaefer or...?
RF - Heyward

Well I think we are going to have to make a tough decision. For the first time I feel fed up with Chipper's boo boos. He would be better off in the AL as a DH because it would mean less exposure on the field. But right now he reminds me of what RoseAnn RoseAnnaDanna used to say "there's always something!"
