One of our moderators here at chopnation, aptly named Chris_Moderato, posed a fascinating question today. After viewing the comments around the Braves, more at other blogs than here, he asked if a strong start was important for the Atlanta Braves?
Well, leave it up to me to spend some time while my girlfriend sleeps to look this kind of information up. Let’s take a look at the last twenty years and see how strong starts and, well, not-so-strong starts have impacted the end of...

-The Braves open 2-0 after Chipper Jones goes deep in a 2-1 game to give the Braves the 3-2 edge that Billy Wagner kept with three K's in the ninth. This is one of those games you truly love to win because the Ryan Dempster was dominating. He had the Braves, after the second, flailing and missing. Until the bullpen got the call, the Cubs were cruising. In the 8th, John Grabow, Mr. I'm-More-Than-A-LOOGY, got Melky Cabrera, but Martin Prado doubled to set up Jones, who unlike so many times last...

I meant to write an article on the 5 reasons the Braves will make the playoffs vs. the 5 reasons they will not. But then, maybe I still will.
Watching the final half inning of opening day and man, with the exception of Derek Lowe sucking, you have to think this day has gone just about as well as the Braves could have hoped. 16 runs, including monster days from Yunel Escobar and Jason Heyward, and the Braves are looking good. Easy transition period for Melky Cabrera to go from...

With 18 days left before the Braves start their 2010 campaign, it is time to finish up the positional preview with the outfield. Last year, the Braves began the season with a 4-1 win over the Phillies. The starting outfield was Garret Anderson in left, Jordan Schafer in center, and Jeff Francoeur in right. Schafer would get hurt and demoted by June, Francoeur was dealt in early July, and while he lasted the whole year, Anderson is gone now. The opening day outfield is not for certain just yet,...

-The Atlanta Braves are having a fairly productive spring thus far. With the Yankees up tonight on MLB Network, they are 6-3 with a win over the Mets yesterday. Of course, the biggest story that will simply not go away is about Jason Heyward, the 20 year-old outfielder who may be ready to be The Franchise after the passing of the torch from Chipper Jones. You simply cannot avoid the talk of damaging automobiles with his homers and so forth, but what amazes me is his plate discipline. I will...
