Dang, you beat me to it.

If this team were based in Toronto, we would be the Toronto Maple Barfs

Go Barfs

Troy Glaus hit a 3-run homer in the first, but the game is being delayed by rain.

Agent-X-
06-01-2010, 07:40 PM
Glaus hammered a belt high change up. That was a nice drive.

Hope the rain lets up soon.

-Dr. Brave-
06-01-2010, 08:00 PM
The rain stopped 20 minutes ago.

The grounds crew seems to be in a holding pattern. About 20 of them are standing around the tarp holding brooms.

There are showers all around the beltway, but none of them are moving toward the stadium. Not sure what they're waiting for. :headscratch:

-Dr. Brave-
06-01-2010, 08:04 PM
The grounds crew is about to pull the tarp off the field.

06-01-2010, 08:12 PM
An announcement was just made to the fans in attendance that the game will resume around 8:30.

Barves. Barves is weird enough. Barfs is unsettling lol.

-Dr. Brave-
06-01-2010, 08:26 PM
Chad Durbin will replace Cole Hamels.

No word yet on whether Tim Hudson will come back out, but my guess would be no.

Come on boys, let's get 4.5 in so we can make this official and guarantee we end this series with the division lead.

Barves. Barves is weird enough. Barfs is unsettling lol.

It would have been quite appropriate in April.

Game has resumed. Rain delay 1 hour 4 minutes officially.

End of 1st: Atlanta 3, Philly 0.

-Dr. Brave-
06-01-2010, 08:32 PM
It looks like Tim Hudson warming up for Atlanta.

I'm sure he's glad to be back in there. Seems like it rains every time he throws anymore.

-Dr. Brave-
06-01-2010, 08:45 PM
Why is Tim Hudson batting 9th in this lineup?

5-game hitting streak for the pitcher.

Two innings in the books. Still 3-0.

Nice job by Huddy to get out of that jam.

Atta boy Timmy. He gets Utley to K on a splitter to end the 2nd and 3rd threat!

And Chipper goes down swinging on a letter high pitch.

It's nice to see the Thanks Bobby banner in the stands. It makes me a little sad.

jlcct
06-01-2010, 09:12 PM
They're talking about possible Bobby replacements on ESPN. Would anyone be a little upset if they grabbed someone without current Braves ties? Would anyone be shocked if that happened?

jlcct
06-01-2010, 09:13 PM
Base hit to shallow left center from McCann and we've got 'em on 1st and 3rd with 1 out.

06-01-2010, 09:14 PM
This would be a good time to have Yunel make some positive strides. I guess any time would be a good time for that lol.

-Dr. Brave-

Wow, Infante gets an error in left on an in-betweener, but that dropped throw by Castro at third wasn't an error.

At least we clear the pitcher and add two runs.

Heyward put a charge into that ball, but it is caught on the track.

Somewhere Chip Caray is recovering his breath.

Howard blasts a two-run homer.

The first homer in 68 innings for the Phillies.

Hobbes
06-01-2010, 10:26 PM
Wow! They had Heyward picked off and he winds up stealing second anyway by beating the throw from first.

Hobbes
06-01-2010, 10:35 PM
Phillies threatening with first and third and nobody out.

Hobbes
06-01-2010, 10:41 PM
Glaus snags a difficult pop-up in foul territory to get the first out.

Then Valdez rolls a weak grounder to Chipper who gets the force at second. Prado has no shot at the runner at first, but he throws home as Ruiz tries to score on the play and McCann holds on to the ball after being bowled over.

So after getting the first two on, no runs score.

jlcct
06-01-2010, 10:55 PM
Alrighty, I made it back to see Saito take care of Utley after being up 3-0 and then he gets Howard on a grounder to Prado. 2 down in the top of the 8th with none on.

jlcct
06-01-2010, 11:00 PM
It's probably not healthy for me to be so much happier when we are winning like this as opposed to being down about us when we are losing. It just feels so good to be winning like this. :) And Werth lines one to center to keep the top of the 8th going for the Philies. ....sure do wish we still had a hundred games a year on TBS. Oh...and could we pick up the pace on picking on Chip Caray? He deserves more jabs.

jlcct
06-01-2010, 11:05 PM
Hinske in to third after a dumb error by Werth!

BigWorm
06-01-2010, 11:06 PM
And suddenly the Phillies outfield looks very pedestrian. Hard to imagine after last years performance by Werth and Ibanez. Look at them now. Poop sandwich.

Venters in to finish the game instead of Wagner.

Venters has been a pleasant surprise.

Yeah I thought I saw the same thing. What inning did Hudson get pulled? How many pitches did he throw?

I think he pitched a full six innings. I don't know how many pitches. I get the Phillies broadcast and they don't give much info for Barves fans.

Two outs in the 9th, but the Phils push a run across.

Hamels gets the loss after pitching 2/3 of an inning before the rain delay. Nice.

7th straight win for the Barves. In first by 1.5 games now.

Incredibly, on May 17th the Barves trailed by 7.5 games. That's quite a swing in a short period of time.

Swings like that are legendary when it occurs in September but seldom discussed in June. I know the Phillies are hurting and I realize our schedule has been pretty weak lately but damn it feels good to be on a winning streak. Go Barves!

17 of the last 21 corresponds to 131 wins. If the Barves won 95 I'd be thrilled and look forward to an exciting playoff run behind Hudson, Hanson, and Heyward, the H's. If they keep this up they're the best team in the East by far. It'll be interesting to see how they perform in June which has been a tough month in the past. So far so good.

I just took a look at Hudsons stats. He's made 11 starts this season, 9 of which were quality starts and another was 0.1 innings away from being a quality start. He's averaing 6.38 innings/start which is pretty good, although I see no reason he shouldn't be able to increase that to 6.5 as the season goes along ahd he's further away from the surgery. Hudson has given up more hits than he's pitched innings only twice, both of which were his non-quality starts. His pitch counts have been handled well considering he hasn't thrown more than 109 pitches in any game. Lefties and righties have OBP different by .005 against him. Down 3-0 in the count he's walked all 10 batters he faced and ahead 0-2 batters have a .067 OBP against him.

OK, let's not get all blasphemous here.

We should probably throw Hinske in there along with Heyward, Hanson and Hudson. The 4 H's. Hey, how about the 4-H Club?? LOL.
