He's done calling games for Peachtree and TBS per DOB.

It's a long flyball to right field -- boy, did he get ahold of that -- Diaz back and he's there to make the play!

(Diaz came in to catch the ball, by the way)

I'm not thrilled about the prospects of Ron Gant calling games with Joe Simpson on a regular basis. I have a feeling those two will be calling the games regardless of what station the team playing on.

Sigh. Guess I'll have to keep my XM subscription and use their audio feed while I'm watching.

Nah, I can't imagine them putting bland Gant with bland Simpson. Neither guy is a lead broadcaster.

1. FINALLY.
2. Seriously, it's about dang time.
3. Ronnie is miles better than Chip. I can take dry over inaccurate any day of the week.

Chip, like Pete Van Wieren, Eli Gold and Gary Danielson, calls games on the air only to be on the air. If you're watching the game you're often scratching your head sayin', "What freakin' game is this boob watching?" I understood it with Pete, he got old. The others, like Tim Brando, honestly think all those listening tuned in specifically to watch or listen to them. If each were working the Super Bowl, they'd still think everyone tuned in to hear them and the game becomes a distant second. I imagine Eli Gold is fine for NASCAR or doing hockey, but the dude blows as a football play-by-play guy. Instead of what yardline the team's on or down and distance, this windbag is over- enunciating something about "Wearing the crisp crimson jerseys with white numerals and the brilliant white pant...." He is about as likeable as Chip.
So long Chip! Skip the gutter....hit the curb!

Is Chip dedicating his life to the Cubs now? Maybe he can clean the 1930s sanitation system in Wrigley Park or turn it into a spaceship stadium?

Holy Crap, if he gets Boog's old job then we could be looking at MORE Chip than ever before. Do the right thing, SS/Fox. Just hang up the phone.

Per DOB, Chip was added to the FOX's list to replace Sciambi.

That's like the difference between a briefcase containing a quarter of a million dollars and a lunch sack full of dog crap. Which do you want on your doorstep?

Really, Chip is taking Boog's job? No freakin' way. Do Fox's people not realize how much all Braves fans hate Chip?

It looks official. Bowman's blog (http://markbowman.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/12/caray_to_call_games_for_fox_sp.html) I am extremely unhappy about this.

We already knew there are only future Braves players, as slayer reminds us. Now we find out there are only future Braves announcers. Interesting.

"It would be like being a pinch-hitter or being a relief pitcher that works once every 10 days. I'm better when I work more."

So Chip thinks he's more effective when he calls more games.

His current plan is to incorporate more soccer, basketball, and tennis analogies into his broadcasts.

Can we keep a count of how many times he says "fisting" or "fisted" next year? I'm going to guess... 300.

Oh, he's alright. If he could just learn not to be such a Cubbies' homer....
