I'm not sure if chopnationers realize that the Braves are just three out of the wild card at the moment. A win tonight puts us 2.5 back.
We're in position to get ourselves into the playoffs, and it seems like everybody here thinks the Padres series was the end of our season.
Go Braves!

God, I can't wait until the Arizona Fall League. That's what gives me hope personally.

Two minutes into the ESPN broadcast and I'm already tired of hearing Joe Morgan yap.

You forgot the obligatory "Hall of Famer" title before Joe's name.

Gorecki's terrible. Church or McLouth can't get back soon enough.

Gorecki now has 1 walk and 8 strikeouts in 20 at-bats.

Jayson Werth is a "winning" player.
I want to hear who the "losing" players are. It's Adam Dunn, isn't it?

Anyone know the contract status on JJ? We need to sign him to a long-term deal but I understand Boras is his agent. I want to see him in an Atlanta uni for a long time.

He's got just a little over 1 year of service time, so we have control over him for 5 more seasons (I think - definitely 4 more seasons).

Oh, Utley...
And can we please find an actual major league outfielder to play center field? Seriously...

Why do these guys always pick a topic and then beat it into the ground inning after inning with inane analysis?

That was a big whew!
Bases loaded and nobody out and they come away with nothing.

Crap Chipper.

Oh, Chipper.
Maybe Steve Phillips is right.

Great at-bat by Prado.
Top 8, first and second, nobody out.

C'mon, Chipper, you old fart.
He can't hit a fastball anymore.

Chipper guides a changeup guided to right field to drive in Diaz. 3-2 Phils.
Scott Eyrehead comes in to face McCann and Anderson.

Where the hell was McCann going? No way he makes it to second. Almost a triple play.

Eyre actually threw over to first. Yeah, McCann is a big stolen base threat.

Soriano in the game to knock off the rust.

Escobar, LaRoche, and probably a pinch-hitter due up against Brad Lidge in the 9th.
Hobbes
08-30-2009, 10:31 PM
Okay. Time to rough up Lidge.
Hobbes
08-30-2009, 10:34 PM

You've got to be kidding me.
Now pinch-hitting for Reid Gorecki... Greg Norton. I think I'd rather have Reid Gorecki up there.
I guess Bobby's officially given up on Kelly Johnson.

And Bobby Cox would rather cling onto Greg Norton than have Tim Hudson eligible for the postseason, as Hudson's start is pushed back to Tuesday (http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090830&content_id=6704886&vkey=news_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl). Somebody please tell me that Hudson's stay on the 60-day DL keeps him eligible.

Braves only manage 5 hits, 3 of them by Prado. Good to see Prado not trying so hard and giving himself headaches.

He would be elegible either way. DL can't keep someone off post-season roster (not that it's going to matter as it looks).
