Tango (http://tangotiger.net/scout/) has started up his fans scouting report once again. In the past the ratings given by the fans have been pretty close to the ones given by the pros.

Well, the first Braves fan to submit input must have been a Chipper-hater.;)

Nope, I don't pay enough attention to the stats to rank the players based on performance. If you wanted me to rank other attributes, I certainly could! :p

Ahh, but you're specifically asked to NOT look at stats.

"...I want you to tell me what your eyes see. I want you to tell me how good or bad a fielder is.

...And, most importantly, do not, absolutely do not, look at any numbers. Don't look at his fielding percentage, range factor, zone rating, UZR, or anything else that someone else is telling you. I just want you to rely on your eyes. You are the scout. I need you to rely completely on your own observations. ..."

Lauren, you probably see more games in person than just about anyone on here. You should fill it out.

Looking at the results so far, I don't have any major disagreement. I'm not convinced that Kotchman is a better fielder than LaRoche though. I also think McCann and Diaz have improved their defense this year and am not sure that this is entirely reflected in the ratings.

Overall, when you compare our guys at each position, it's obvious that we're a pretty mediocre fielding team - especially right now. Out of our top 8 rated guys, the only one who's currently playing is Escobar. The rest have been traded or demoted or are currently injured. Escobar is rated as our best defender but isn't even in the top 10 among all shortstops.

Hmm, I guess I will fill it out, then. I'm 3 players in and already ranked Chipper higher than Mac, so you guys know I'm not being biased. :D (Defensively, Chipper IS stronger.)
