Was lucky enough to get to see the Future's Debut in person on Sunday, and thought I'd give my opinion...
1st 5 Innings:
The first 2 times through the lineup Hanson was about as good as a rookie could be...The 2 Run Home Run in the 3rd inning should have have been a solo shot at best, but we can think Yunel for botching that rather routine chopper...Now I didn't have the option of replay like those at home, but from my angle it looked like Ross would have had Kendell at 2nd if Escobar holds on to the ball...All in all you can't complain much about 5 innings and 2 earned runs on 3 hits from a rookie bad in his debut...
The 6th inning: You could tell that Hanson lost his focus a little in the 6th and after seeing him twice the Brewers bats were ready to do something about it...He did show he could come back and finish off a rough inning though which I did like...
Overall: The overall #'s weren't pretty, but he pitched better than the box score suggested...He did a solid job of getting 1st pitch strikes and held his own for the most part...and outside of the 2 Run Home run by Cameron I was impressed how he was able to quickly recover after allowing runs...His stuff looked good for the most part...He didn't look like he was over whelmed ...He wasn't perfect his 1st debut like we expected(though I was hoping for something special after the 1st 10 guys (should have been 11 ARGHHHH!), but with a little better luck he could have easily pitched 7 innings with 2-3 fewer runs allowed...Regardless of what happened in his final inning last time out, I'm def looking forward to seeing him pitch Friday vs Baltimore...The Kid def has the chance to be one of the best in Braves history...
I'll post some pictures in a few...
