We used to have one of these, but it hasn't been started back up yet. With all the conversation about Bob Dylan, I figured I'd get it going again.

The Killers featuring Lou Reed - Tranquilize
Music Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12bgWhzgJSQ)

Time it tells living in my home town,
Wedding bells they begin easy
Live it down, baby don’t talk that much,
Baby knows, that baby don’t tease me.
In the park we could go walking,
Drown in the dark or we could go sailing
On the sea

Always here, always on time
Close call, was it love or was it just easy
Money talks when people need shoes and socks,
Steady boys, I'm thinking she needs me

I was just sipping on something sweet
I don’t need political process

I got this feeling that they‘re gonna break down the door
I got this feeling they they’re gonna come back for more
See I was thinking that I lost my mind
But it’s been getting to me all this time
And it don’t stop dragging me down

Silently reflection turns my world to stone
Patiently correction leaves us all alone
And sometimes I’m a travel man
But tonight this engine's failing

I still hear the children playing

Kick the can, kick the can, skip and blackjack
Steal a car and ring a round-rosey,
Rock and roll, candyland, boogeyman,
Run away and give me your sneakers

Acid rain, when Abel looked up at Cain
We began the weeping and wailing
A hurried high from pestilence, pills and pride,
It’s a shame, we could of gone sailing
But heaven knows,
Heaven knows everything
Tranquilize

I got this feeling that they‘re gonna break down the door
I got this feeling they they’re gonna come back for more
See I was thinking that I lost my mind
But it’s been getting to me all this time
And it don’t stop dragging me down

Silently reflection turns my world to stone
Patiently correction leaves us all alone
And sometimes I’m travel man
But tonight this engine's failing

I still hear the children playing
Dead beat dancers come to us and stay

Cause i don’t care where you've been
And I don’t care what you've seen
We’re the ones who still believe
And we’re looking for a page
In that lifeless book of hope
Where a dream might help you cope
With the Bushes and the bombs
Tranquilized

(Lou Reed sings the last verse and where he sings "the Bushes and the bombs", it was originally written "the vampires and the bombs")

You Found Me
Big Daddy Weave

I saw three AM come and go again
Another sleepless night, thanks to living my own way
All my great ideas, I've regretted most of them
But that was back long before the day

When I saw a flash of light and I heard the sound
Of a voice like thunder shake the ground
It was the first time I remember ever feeling my heartbeat
And the arms that gripped me felt like grace
And I realized in their embrace
To be held so tight
I've never felt so free
Also know as the day that you found me

My whole life has changed ever since the day You came
The way I see, the things I want, it's everything
Some may call it strange, I don't care what people say
I knew You were the only way

I've never known a love like this
You've captured my heart and You brought the sweetest
Peace to my life, brought me into the light
Now I'm all Yours, Jesus, draw me into You

I don't think that I could ever be the same
Who would want to be anyway

There are lyricists that I like who are not the lead singer for The Killers, but I'm gonna post another one of there songs, because I really like this song. It's inspirational and corny("the sky is full of dreams, but you don't know how to fly"), but I think these lyrics are really clever(especially in the context of the rest of the album). Still, I don't blame anyone that thinks they're just corny. I encourage everyone to give it a listen on youtube.

This Is Your Life - The Killers

Candy talks to strangers
Thinks her life's in danger
No one gives a damn about her hair
It's lonely down on track street
She used to go by Jackie
The cops, they'll steal your dreams and they'll kill your prayers
Take a number where the blood just barely dried

Wait for something better
No one behind you
Watching your shadows
This feeling won't go

Crooked wheels keep turnin'
Children, are you learnin'
Climatize but don't you lose the plot
A history of blisters
Your brothers and your sisters
Somewhere in the pages we forgot

Take a number Jackie
Where the blood just barely dried
You know I'm on your side

Wait for something better
No one behind you
Watching your shadows
You gotta be stronger than the story
Don't let it blind you
Rivers of shadow
This feeling wont go

And the sky is full of dreams
But you don't know how to fly
I don't have a simple answer
But I know that I could answer
Something better

This feeling won't go

Wait for it (x4)

No problem because I am a fan of the Killers as one of the better groups out there along with Kings of Leon, Collective Soul, Radiohead, Third Eye Blind, Incubus, Lifehouse, and of course the one that is probably the best of all, The Arcade Fire. Keep in mind it is all my humble opinion.

I like a few of the bands you mentioned, but I love Arcade Fire. Awesome band.

Saw Arcade Fire in concert on TV last week. Unbelievable musicianship and energy. Also got the crowd really revved up and even participating as the lead singer seems to like taking strolls amongst them.

Rap have you ever listened to Wild Light? Chris, the brilliant man that he is, read my posts about The Killers and thought I might like them. He's quite intuitive. They ended up co-writing The Killers' Christmas song last year called "Happy Birthday Guadalupe". They also have connections with Arcade Fire. One of the members of Wild Light was part of the original lineup that became Arcade Fire. All three bands are friends, apparently. They're not bad. Catchy, but smart. You might like them.

Here's a classic from 1965 written by P. F. Sloan and recorded by Barry McGuire. The fears voiced are eerily similar to today's.

Eve of Destruction

The eastern world it is explodin',
violence flarin', bullets loadin',
you're old enough to kill but not for votin',
you don't believe in war, what's that gun you're totin',
and even the Jordan river has bodies floatin',
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Don't you understand, what I'm trying to say?
Can't you see the fears that I'm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, there's no running away,
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave,
take a look around you, boy, it's bound to scare you, boy,
and you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin',
I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin',
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
handful of Senators don't pass legislation,
and marches alone can't bring integration,
when human respect is disintegratin',
this whole crazy world is just too frustratin',
and you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space,
but when you return, it's the same old place,
the poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace,
you can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace,
hate your next-door-neighbour, but don't forget to say grace,
and you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend,
you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
no no you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

This thread hasn't been used in over two years. Might as well dust it off. Here are some lyrics from The Avett Brothers. The song is Called "Ill with Want".

I am sick with wanting and it's evil and it's daunting
How I let everything I cherish lay to waste
I am lost in greed, this time it's definitely me
I point fingers but there's no one there to blame

I need for something, no let me break it down again
I need for something but not more medicine

I am sick of wanting and it's evil how it's got me
And every day is worse than the one before
The more I have the more I think I'm almost where I need to be
If only I could get a little more

I need for something, no let me break it down again
I need for something but not more medicine

Something has me, oh something has me
Acting like someone I don't wanna be
Something has me, oh something has me
Acting like someone I know isn't me
Ill with want and poisoned by this ugly greed

Temporary is my time, ain't nothing on this world that's mine
Except the will I found to carry on
Free is not your right to chose
It's answering what's asked of you
To give the love you find until it's gone

I need for something, no let me break it down again
I need for something but not more medicine

Something has me, oh something has me
Acting like someone I don't wanna be
Something has me, oh something has me
Acting like someone I know isn't me
Ill with want and poisoned by this ugly greed
Ill with want and poisoned by this ugly greed
Ill with want and poisoned by this ugly greed
