A bit surprised not to see this reported just yet, but former Titans QB Steve McNair was shot and killed today (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5grrYbARZsg3ruEAqycFPRfNu2EjwD997T8QG0).
Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron confirmed that authorities were called to a condominium and found McNair and a woman shot to death inside. Aaron said police don't yet know the circumstances of the shootings.

"I don't have any answers for you now as to what's happened, who's responsible," Aaron said.
Of all the recent celebrity deaths, this one actually hits me. ESPN Radio played an interview McNair had last October when he, along with Frank Wychek and Eddie George, were being inducted into the Titans Ring of Honor. He talked about how he had no interest in coming out of retirement and was enjoying spending time with his family and seeing his son's high school football games.

Often, we find sports celebrities say these things to look good, but I believe it was the truth. A great QB and a real example for the league to fans of the game.

At this point they're saying Murder-Suicide perpetrated by the woman.

Bizzare, shocking, and saddening. McNair was one of the finest players of my lifetime.

Sad, sad story. Steve Mcnair was a fantastic football player who helped the Titans develop their tough, blue collar mentality along with Jeff Fisher and Eddie George. He always seemed like a genuine good guy.

He was a Mississippi guy who I saw play as High Schooler many moons ago...(when I was barely out of school) He pretty much put Alcorn State on the map.... It really sucks... but, you ought not go messin around with womens who ain't yer wife!!!

Final ruling by police is a murder-suicide. They say the evidence points to McNair being shot to death while sleeping and then the girl shot herself in the head.

The police believe it may have been precipitated by her finding out of McNair being with another woman.

I think the world has changed for the worst folks because I understand the sadness but being shot by your girlfriend while your wife and four kids are home? I am so confused by this.

What's confusing? From my understanding, he cheated on his wife with the girlfriend who killed him, and the girlfriend killed him because he'd been cheating on her with yet another woman. Killer GF was clearly unstable, but if McNair had stayed faithful to his wife, none of this would have ever happened.

True, but that's a hell of a price to pay for infidelity.

Apparently, McNair was quite the butterfly going from flower to flower. How could his wife not know about his numerous out-of-town trips and late night escapades? Seems like McNair could come and go as he pleased. My gut feeling is that Mrs. McNair knew her husband was lying to her about his extracurricular activities but because he was famous and was providing her and the family a fabulous lifestyle, she choose to ignore his adulterous ways.

Sad thing is that 4 kids currently don't have a father because he couldn't keep it in his pants. He certainly didn't deserve to be killed for his transgression but he was playing with fire and paid the ultimate price.

You've just described the relationships of many, many pro athletes and their wives.
