The Time Is Now

Posted 05-30-2010 at 06:31 AM by BarveFanHawaii (View From The Rock)

First of all, I'd like to leave a few pieces of my lemon chicken as a sacrifice to the great Jobu and a Nature Valley Oats 'N Honey granola bar as an offering to the baseball gods for what I'm about to do.

I'm going to do a tad bit of looking past our current opponents, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and talk about a big time series at Turner Field against the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies.

It's not that I do not respect the Pirates (very few people do, anyway) as...

BFH's Foolhardy Forecasts Pt. II

Posted 04-04-2010 at 08:27 PM by BarveFanHawaii (View From The Rock)

As it's the official opening day for major league baseball, I decided to do just a few more projections for a few more players that there seems to be a lot of varying opinions of.

Kicking things off, we'll go with two offensive players that will likely play vital roles to the offense in 2010. What's interesting, is neither of these names were in the opening day starting lineup from 2009.

Frank Wren pulled the trigger on a great trade...

BFH's Foolhardy Forecasts for 2010

Posted 03-07-2010 at 08:13 PM by BarveFanHawaii (View From The Rock)

In this edition of BFH's View From The Rock, I'm going to throw out 3 worthless predictions each on the pitching and offensive side of the ball. What I've done is tried to distribute the picks and and predictions so that I've included one player each which I feel has gotten too much, too little or just enough credit with the general public in regards to expectations for the 2010 season. It also didn't hurt to try and pick out the players which have been surrounded by major discussion this off-season...

2007 to Present: Pretend to Contend

Posted 01-02-2010 at 04:53 PM by BarveFanHawaii (View From The Rock)

Frank Wren and the Atlanta Braves have been quite active this winter. Perhaps just as busy as the mainstream teams like the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. However, there is a lot left to be desired in regards to the activity that has taken place thus far this winter.

As we welcome a new year and new decade, a lot of us are optimistic about what the future holds in Atlanta with rising stars like Jair Jurrjens, Tommy Hanson, Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman. While it's a...

The clock is ticking...

So as I type this, we are just days away from yet another Christmas and under two weeks away from ushering in a new decade. The clock does indeed continue to tick.

However, as the days roll by I can't help but have an overwhelming feeling of impending doom. No, I'm not a believer in the whole 2012 theory...but I do feel the Braves are slowly strolling into a bad situation. The situation I refer to is specifically the situation surrounding their wish to trade Derek Lowe before Vazquez....
