Venters should appeal and get the suspension reduced. It's not like anything came of the incident. Hell, the Brewers got the Braves back the next day and Fielder's slide after being hit was very dangerous, but that gets a blind eye?

Venters suspended four games, Cox one game for intentionally throwing at batters
Let's put "intentionally" in quotation marks.
I love how "MLB" threw that in as if it were a statement of fact. Only Venters can possibly know whether he threw intentionally at Fielder unless he shared it with others.
In case anyone was wondering, it was Bob Watson who levied the suspension, not that you'd find that out by reading Mark Bowman's article. But most of us probably knew that already.

Bobby Cox will manage by telephone and I'm sure his coaches are really worried about having to manage a game without his butt next to theirs
As far as Venters is concerned I could see him appealing, but at the same time I wouldn't mind him getting four days off to rest seeing he has played a huge role in the bullpen, needs to continue to play a huge role in the bullpen, and is young. Good for the Braves striking some fear into the Brewers batters whether it was intentional or not. I will add another win onto my record expectations for that.

A breaking ball gets away, sails over the head of a batter, benches get warned. The next pitch by a rookie (who didn't even break camp with the team, mind you) gets away from him and he gets tossed and gets a four-game suspension? It seems excessive. Very, very excessive.
KB's right, that the rest could do him good. On the other hand, O'Flaherty's on the DL and we could use the arm. I guess we'll see what happens... at least we've got a live arm in Mike Dunn.

With Medlen and Kawakami on the roster the Braves have an excellent long relief situation and can cover for a couple 1 inning relievers being out. It's a luxury that could pay off here, who knows. Of course not needing long relievers every other night has been beneficial for the Braves as well. The Braves #3 starting pitcher from a couple years ago now pitches in Japan, unbelievable compared to the past two seasons.

I used to hold the most games suspended record in my state. I Know how to throw at someone. The fact that they allowed another hit batsmen to happen after the warning in that game is a load of horse****!!!!! If I was Venters or Cox I would leave my plea in writing on the steps of MLB's home base!
