Milwaukee (In fact , it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land.") swept the Pirates before the break...which came after losing five consecutive games. Ugly Corey Hart is still a Brewer for the moment, but could be traded by the third inning.

R. Weeks 2b
C. Hart rf
R. Braun lf
P. Fielder 1b
C. McGehee 3b
J. Edmonds cf
J. Lucroy c
A. Escobar ss
D. Bush p

Hopefully, Edmonds will make an unnecessary dive on a ball hit right at him so that Baseball Tonight can give him another web gem. If they still do that.

M. Prado 2b
J. Heyward rf
C. Jones 3b
B. McCann c
T. Glaus 1b
E. Hinske lf
A. Gonzalez ss
G. Blanco cf
J. Jurrjens p

Remember when Glaus and Hinske were destroying the ball? Remember when Jason Heyward was healthy and producing? Maybe both things will return tonight. Or at least one.

Prado and Chipper put braves up 2-1 with solo shots.

GREAT catch by JH in the corner. A little shook up after colliding with the wall but seems OK. Game has to be delayed 10 minutes while Bobby hobbles back to the dugout from the right field corner.

And first base umpire Joe West.

That was a sensational catch, maybe the #1 webgem on ESPN tonight. Might have saved a run and the lead.

That leadoff double by Gonzalez was his 26th of the season.

Yu-who?

Scared the hell out of Bobby. Instead of a catch in the corner, Bobby thought there was a death and a coroner.

I'm gonna miss that senile ba$tard.

Fifteen minutes after running face-first at full speed into the right field fair pole, Jason fouls one off his foot. He's trying to beat himself back into submission.

How dare Alex Gonzalez sully the good name of Rafael Belliard by wearing his number!

Anyway...runner on first, Prince Fielder at the plate, one out in the 8th and Venters coming in.

Onto the bottom of the 8th...still 2-1.

One, you didn't need a defensive replacement for Hinske earlier, Bobby. And two, maybe you would have used MattE here.

But, no, it was Melky Cabrera...who tried to decapitate a fan.

I love when failure meets Jim Edmonds...one of my most hated players. Craig Counsell is another.

Phillies about to drop back one. Getting pummeled by the Cubs 12-2 in the 9th. Speaking of the Phillies, their bullpen is really imploding. They have the same problem the Braves had a few years back where the bad pitching became contagious. Strange watching that phenomenon in baseball. You know when suddenly a few guys start hitting then everyone starts hitting or like the Padres starters this year feeding off each other's great starts. To bad you can't bottle whatever the good juju is that makes a team outperform it's parts and can't easily exorcise the bad juju.

No wonder these guys are so superstitious.

Phillies lose and the mets are down 1-0 in the 7th. Could be a very productive night. Yunie didn't seem to be too sorely missed either.

Wow. Don't understand that. Why? Both of them are great players (Edmunds of the first order). Is is because they are Braves' killers? If so, I can undertand that part of "hating" them, but I'd like to have either of them on my team in their prime.

As far as this game goes, I surely hope HeyWood's hand is okay. He was 0-4 and I am sure he was a bit rusty, but he'll be fine so long as he's healed. Keeping my fingers crossed he really is healed....

Just speaking for myself, it would embarrass me to have CC on the Braves. Although his lightening rod imitation could be helpful to his teammates during an electrical storm.

Edmunds is (was) an overrated, showboating glory hound. I actively root against him. On my softball team when an outfielder makes a play look harder than it really was we say he pulled an Edmunds.

I don't hate Counsell like others do, but he gets entirely too much credit for "grit" and "hustle" and is therefore perceived to be a better player than he is (much like David Eckstein).

I wouldn't have wanted any of those guys on my team.

What Hobbes said...with more hate and forty-two of these

/David Eckstein and Juan Pierre would be great additions to the "I hate you" club, founded by Dreamscape circa 1982.
