Since there is no game thread today I'm just going to say this here. It's real good to see Jurrjens doing well again. Today he gave up two hits in six innings. As long as he keeps it up he will be a huge improvement over his injured self of a few weeks ago.

He pitched well and deserved a better fate. The Braves can not hit with RISP the last few games. We had a chance for big innings in the 1st and 8th innings and we blew it.

We're in the bottom of the tenth. Jurrjens went six innings, gave up two hits, walked three, struck out four and allowed three runs. Since then, our bullpen has been perfect with Moylan, Venters, Saito, O'Flaherty and now Chavez all getting into the game.

We're tied 3-3 right now despite the fact that we've outhit the Phillies 10 to 2. Chavez got the first out in the tenth with a fly out from Werth. He just walked Juan Castro. Wilson Valdez is up with one out and a runner on first.

As for the Braves' offense, Prado has scored two runs. One of them was when he hit a solo homerun. Diaz scored the other run after missing a homerun by less than a foot and David Ross Singled to drive him in.

Chavez got out of the tenth.

Escobar started the eleventh off with a single, and Matt Diaz drove him in from first by hitting a double into the right center gap! Braves lead 4-3, Wagner is warming up.

MattD rips a double and the braves go up 1! Man it's great to see Matty swinging the stick like he is tonight. He could be a huge boost in the second half if he and Hinske can combine to put up some nice numbers from LF.

Hinske!!! He hit a two run homer to right. We got a three run lead for Wagner. Nice!!

We should win this one and the Muts won today as well. The Marlins just got started against the Dodgers and the Gnats beat the Padres 6-5.

Thank goodness. That would have been a tough game to lose after outhitting them like that. I didn't tune in until the 7th, but it looks like JJ had another good one. If he can keep pitching like this, that's a tremendous boost for the rotation. With a healthy Heyward, this is the team to beat in the NL.

Nice win from the Barvos, and doubly nice because I got to watch it on my regular TV in glorious HD, instead of on the tiny MLB.TV feed.

JJ looked good tonight, and held the Phils to only two hits.

Tomorrow the Muts have Jon Niese (6-2 3.62) going against Bronson Arroyo (8-4 4.25). Then the Muts go on to face the coolest team for three games before the All Star break.

Not to look beyond tomorrow...but the series you speak of is our chance to really put this division in a choke hold.

It may just be me...and this is rare for me to not feel iffy about our chances...but I do expect the Braves to exploit the Mets for the overachieving team (pitching-wise) that I think they currently are.

I'm sure there where many a year where our division rivals felt the same way, but I just don't see it happen. This thing is going down to the end, and I think the Mets end up making a deal that pushes them over the top, just a hunch.

Having said that, tonight's game is huge, as is this weekend. We have a chance to gain some breathing room while our best offensive player is on the shelf. If we could steal 3 out of the next 4 before the break, we will look pretty good. I don't like our chances of doing that, but, hey, they've surprised me thus far and that's why they play the games.

The Mets aren't as good as the Braves. Not even close. I suggest anyone who is buying into them to look at the Adjusted Standings and then tell me that they're going to keep this up for the rest of the year. I also see no reason to believe that Omar Minaya is going to do anything smart. He's an idiot. Top to bottom, that team doesn't stack up with the Braves. Wahoo, have you looked at the pitching matchups for that series?

No I haven't. But then again I know the mets aren't really as good their record but I just don't think we can write them off, if only because of the numerous rifles we have see n braves teams steal division crowns with mediocre rosters.

I have to agree with Wahoo that the Mets could be problematic, especially this weekend. We haven't faced Dickey and the Braves usually don't do well with pitchers they haven't seen before. Pelfrey and Santana are 2 tough hombres so taking 2 of 3 this weekend will be a tall order.

We have a lot of games remaining with the Muts and how we play against them will probably determine our post season hopes.

When compared to half a billion dollars, Cliff Lee is chump change.

Well, I was wrong to mention the pitching matchups as if they favored us. I didn't think we'd see Santana, but he'll pitch the third game against Lowe. Hanson will face Dickey in game one, and Hudson will go against Pelfrey in game two.

Unfortunately, they don't seem too concerned about it. The Mets are still in trade talks for Lee.

Long shot or not, what we realistically need to do is keep winning these games against the Mets and force them out of a playoff spot.
