If you're going to start a thread like this, it helps to tell people why you think they should pray for someone who's chosen a sex, drugs, and rock & roll lifestyle.

Wow, tells me a lot about the people on this site that I like. Lauren, dos a person need to qualify himself to get your prayers? Is that what you believe Jesus taught?

Chris, you must know the old saying "if you have nothing good to say better not to say anything at all?" Do you have any compassion in your heart? Did he kill anybody, steal from anybody, cause anybody true harm?

Hobbes, not because he is famous you doofus. Because he is a fellow human being and all I have from him are some pretty good songs which is a greater contribution than most people can say they give.

Some pretty good songs? You're joking, right? I know you have better taste than that, Rappy.

I have plenty of compassion. I just don't choose to waste it on the likes of Bret Michaels, a man who headlines a show that promotes the worst kinds of behavior as these sad, sad women attempt feebly to swap STDs with a washed-up, "never-was" of a rock star.

Your obsession with the famous, and your expectation that others share your obsession, is a little tiresome at times. The celebrity R.I.P. thread is a joke that I'm not sure you get sometimes. No one cares about the well-being of celebrities at this site as much as you do.

Judging people around here because they don't care one way or the other about some jackass who has lived an undeservedly charmed life, often at the expense of the dignity of others, is ridiculous and beneath you.

Chris, what he did on a reality show for TV is not the way to judge anyone. I was never a fan of Poison although like many bands of that genre they did have some nice ballads. But he is still a young man and maybe you will cheer if he croaks?

Just to let you know that I take this paragaraph you wrote as an utter and complete insult. If you don't want the thread then why don't you just remove it. You seem to have a good talent for that anyway.

Good Grief...You're the last guy I ever expected to see this from, Nick. I'm not quite sure where this came from but rest assured, no one and I mean no one, sounds good saying it. I guess if one wants to be considered in the same train of thought with the goot on those horrible Netflicks commercials, that's their choice.
This one's on the list with other such useless stuff as "It is what it is," "I'm just sayin'" and "thoughts and prayers go out..." (The last one is often heard out of the mouths of people you know aren't praying for anyone!)
Nothing personal, Nick, you just kinda shook me with that comment.

I won't cheer if he dies. I also won't really notice. I'm a little embarrassed that I'm even posting another comment in reference to that guy. He sucks. He's not worth our attention.

I see nothing wrong with your thread. Personally, I find it amusing. I also don't think you can argue that you don't value celebrity more than anyone else on this board. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but it's undeniable.

Why should I pray for a complete stranger who has in not impacted my life in any positive way? What good has he done for me, for my family, for my friends?

My uncle died this week. I'm praying for his widow, his son, his grandchildren, my dad, and our family. These people were impacted in a real way by a death of a good man. Frankly, I don't care for "celebrities" and don't put them on the pedestals others do.

I'm pulling for you, Bret. But if you don't make it, I hope these words of mine will make it to you and bring you peace:

If you believe in forever,
Then life is just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band.

Jimi gave us rainbows,
And Janis took a piece of our hearts.
Otis took us all to the dock of the bay.
Sing a song to light my fire,
Remember Jim that way.
They've all found another place,
Another place to play.

If you believe in forever,
Then our gig's just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band.

Remember bad, bad Leroy Brown,
Hey Jimmy touched us with that song.
And time won't change the friends
We used to know.
Bobby gave us Mack the Knife,
Well look out, he's back in town.
They'll all be there, another day,
When they meet in one big show.

If you believe in forever,
Then our gig's just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band.

There's a spotlight waiting,
No matter who you are.
Everybody's got a song to sing,
Everyone's a star (everybody's got to be a star).

If you believe in forever,
Then our gig's just a one-night stand.
If there's a rock and roll heaven,
Well you know they've got a hell of a band.
Well you know they've got a hell of a band.

So someone has to impact your life to deserve your prayer and you will judge if it is in a positive way? Is Bret not the son of parents or the father of a kid to whom he is "Daddy?" Weren't almost all the people Jesus met complete strangers?

Oh and please don't try to say I put anyone on a pedestal and stop picking on the word "celebrities" because you need to roll back and review who was paid tribute to.

I am just stunned because all I did was ask for some prayer for another human being figting for his life and I believe prayer is bs anyway.

Dreamscape
04-25-2010, 07:37 PM
Then why bother (1) asking for prayers and (2) arguing that someone needs/deserves to be prayed for? I mean, if I don't care about something or find it bs, I don't argue for it or make a passionate plea. And Rap, I do think you feel more for celebrities than anyone else would. Maybe it's your connections or whatever, but ask yourself if all of us are just thoughtless heathens or you put so much value in celebrities that you feel so much for a man who has made some questionable decisions and doesn't actually impact your life in the slightest. Not that I pray, but I can't think of one person who was never part of my personal life that I would pray for in a time of turmoil. I don't wish any ill will on Michaels, but I guess I just don't care.

I would like to personally thank everyone for their heartfelt prayers and wishes for Bret Michaels. They obviously worked! Thanks entirely to the efforts of ChopNation members pleading with the man upstairs, it looks like our man Bret is out of critical condition and is now stable!

However, it turns out he has now been diagnosed with hyponatremia, which leaves him prone to seizures. This leads me to only one conclusion. Some of you are not praying correctly. In order to avoid further miscommunication with the Big Guy, let's make sure everybody is on the same page this time.

All prayers should be submitted in ENGLISH ONLY! There is no evidence that God is multilingual, especially the way some of you people speak it. Also, CHRISTIAN PRAYERS ONLY! None of this Allah, Bhagwan, or Buddha crap. And I propose anybody supplicating to Odin on behalf of Bret should be subject to an immediate IP ban. Now get your act together and hit your knees!

Prayer - You're doing it wrong.
