Braves up 5-2 headed to the bottom of the 8th. Hudson pitched pretty well from what I saw but gave up a ton of dinky little grounder-type hits. Chipper came out of the game with back issues.

Cubs and Reds have each had 10 managers since Cox became the Braves manager. At least I think that's what they said. I've been listening to the Mets TV guys off and on this series. They're among the best of the opposing team announcers that I've heard this year, imho.

Dang, KJ pulled a Nomi Malone on Marteen. (Bonus points to anyone who knows the reference!) They replayed the incident several times -- basically, KJ was taking BP before the game and nailed Prado in the leg, who was fielding at 2B. Prado has a bone bruise, they said later in the broadcast.

Listened to much of the game on radio while working. Wonder why Cox didn't rip Joggin' GA outta the game after his "single" off the top of the wall in right? Seems he was gearing down for his homer trot but the ball stayed in the yard. Later, the way the announcers described it, GA nonchalanted a ball hit past him in the outfield and McLouth, who does hustle, had to pick him up by chasing the ball down. Any doubts that Cox yanks Escobar after either half-hearted play?

Braves sweep Mets - again. That's fun under any circumstances.

Man, what a roll we are on these days. Wish we'd put this all together earlier in the season...

GA's single looked like a home run to me. It was a monster shot. Bobby actually came out to argue that it was a home run.

I thought Anderson's shot was gone too.
It's ridiculous how big that stadium plays. If I'm David Wright, I run from Citi Field as fast as I can when my contract expires.
And that double by Francoeur was McLouth's play... I'd rather Anderson stay out of the way.

And the Rockies lose. 4 games back with 10 to go. We have the Nats, and they have the Cards. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Yeah. They're 4-6 over their last ten. We gotta win these last ten games, but who doesn't feel like we're going to win every night? I know I do. If the Rockies don't be careful......it could happen. That's all I'm saying.

Be careful what you wish for…we lost both series to the Nats in Washington earlier this year and in recent years, we haven’t exactly dominated the Nationals. Good news is that those series were played earlier in the year when we had Francoeur and other dead wood in our line-up. We’re a different team now.
We sure have been pitching and playing well as of late … and we probably need to take 9 or 10 of our remaining 10 games with the Nats and Marlins to have a chance. Problem is we’re 14-12 against those teams so far this year.

I'll put my vote in for the worst game-calling I've ever heard, period: The Marlins' announcers in the ninth inning last night. They were basically the two drunk guys that sit behind you at every ballgame and yell so much that it scares your kids. Instead of calling the game they were screaming into the microphone "COME ON! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! THERE'S NO WAY THAT'S A STRIKE! There's got to be umpires at AAA that call games better than THAT!" And when the Marlins won, they screamed "Yes!" for a minute or two, and then added something to the effect of "Take THAT, Sam Holbrook. The Marlins won the game IN SPITE of your terrible umpiring."
(For the record, the pitches were a little low, but they were not "grab-the-torches-and-pitchforks-and-meet-me-at-the-gallows" bad. Too close to take in the bottom of the ninth of a 1 run game.)

Ha, yeah I can remember the Fishies announcers being very annoying. I will confess that I don't usually pay much attention to who the other guys' announcers are. Sometimes you can't help but know - Vin Scully, Harry Kalas, Bob Ueker, etc. but usually I just get a general impression of whether they're any good and I don't even know who's announcing unless I make a point of looking it up.
I know announcer favorites is a subjective thing, but the thing I like most about certain annoucers is that they can remain objective. I expect announcers to get excited when they're team does well, but I HATE it when announcers lose all objectivity and EVERY close call is an outrage, etc. Like you say, I wanted to listen to that I'd go hang out with some drunk guys in a bar.
