Is it just me or does the traffic on the site appear to be way down. I noticed that OT Board has barely been posted to and only minor postings on everything else.
Wha' happened? Everyone got discouraged and bailed?

Yeah, it has been very dead around here. I think there was some lingering hope that the Braves could make a run to the playoffs, but once that hope dimmed the burnout set in.

In the past we had lots of ranting about how bad the Braves crashed or only if Wickman had been acquired before Reitsma stunk up the joint so terribly for months. This year the mentality is meh, the Braves just came up short. I hope that guy Heyward does well when he gets called up June 1, not that Hanson is too shabby. Speaking of that though, he comes up, pitches better than anyone could have hoped for and he's barely discussed anymore. The whipping boy this season has been Kawakami and he simply doesn't work well in that role. Weird season. Site redesigns have caused some traffic troubles for us as well.

Weird season that was basically lost in the first half when we farted around trying to find decent players to put in CF, RF, 2B and 1B. Good news was that our pitching was solid throughout the year...there's hope for 2010.
...and if you want more traffic, bring back Lavelle. ;)

Some of us still read every day but don't post unless we feel like we can contribute to the situation. I still watch every game... but since I don't live and die with every pitch, I'm not as discouraged as most of my male Braves fan friends. This is the time of year when they start getting silly -- impersonations come out, rookie hazing, etc. That's the kind of stuff I love. :D

I think a key reason is lower expectations. We are well out of the glory days of "The Streak," and comparing the Braves' lineup to other competitive teams didn't wash anyone over with excitement. There really weren't any great expectations that were dashed, and we've grown complacent in the "also-ran" role again. I think that has a lot to do with it.
My schedule has also hampered my contributions.

Next year will be Bobby's swan song and I have a feeling Frank will provide him with a team that will rock.

Uh, and...that will draw more traffic to the site?

It should. I think you will see more lurkers post when they are more excited about the team and therefore draw in more opinions. More excitement should create more traffic. Look at me. I'm an eternal optimist and I haven't been posting very often. Even though I read the site multiple times a day I didn't post much and all it took to draw me out of the woodwork is this little wining streak.

I gotta say...I'm not feeling it.
The Braves faults plus football season has me just not following the Braves as much as I may have in other years. Sure, if I'm at home, and they are on, and one of my favorite shows doesn't have a new episode, and I'm not stuck in a game, I pay attention. But a bit of the baseball died for me when Lynchburg won the Carolina League. I think the level of excitement that made me feel really put the Braves in perspective for me. Sure, it would be nice if they won the Wild Card.
But they won't.
Oh wells.
I have been extremely busy with school so far this semester--more than I expected. We'll get this place perked back up during the offseason and the buildup towards spring training.

Ditto. I've had a lot going on lately. This is the first time since I started coaching little league in the fall of '07 that I wish I hadn't signed up for it. I don't have the time, and to make things worse, I don't have a team mom either.

Also it will takle a lot to develop the popularity of any current team we have as they will certainly be compared to the great team of the 90's.

Their current hot streak is helping out. Any time you can get excited about a team, it's much easier to talk about them.

So I guess the boards will be like that until around the start of free agency? It's too bad... I always seem to get interested in a team as soon as their offseason starts. And for the Braves, it'll last a long one because I'm already hopeful and eager to see what they'll do and the World Series hasn't even started yet!
I'm a second-hand Yankee fan though (explained a couple times already) so it's a little easier for me to stay in the baseball frame of mind compared to some of you probably. Also, the Arizona Fall League is going on and we have a lot of top prospects in there... very interesting to track.
For football I'm just staying in it by watching/tracking the Falcons and playing Madden 10.
