What, no updates?

We need this one to drive a nail in the coffin for the Marlins. Not only that but the Phillies are beating up on the Giants... this is an opportunity to catch up to them at least as well.

Lets go mang!

2-2

Comon Vasquez! No more runs!

Top of the 5th and Braves have two men on with no outs!

good to see us playing so well. man we need the rox to lose some games!

2 more fly balls and we end the inning with two men on. oh well, these games are destined to be close. I have no doubt we will do better in the playoffs than the Rox, so I hope we win. Heck, I'd be happy if the Giants got in instead of the Rox. I just don't think they have the pitching to win it all like we do (and the Giants do).

Sanches is a monster apparently. Diaz and Prado just struck out :(

Bottom of the 6th with the good guys up 3-2

Is the NL really that bad? Bad Penny got hammered like Smoltz and now he too is tossing a shutout! Against the Phils no less!

Sure hope Vazquez can go 8. The BP studs need a breather.

By the way: Marlins announcer just said the annoying whistling you hear is definitely Escobar.

Never mind the 8 innings...115 pitches already for Vazquez and only 1 out in the 6th with runners on 1st and 3rd.

ouch. Medlen comes in with the sacks full and gives up a bases clearing double to carroll. Fish up 5-3.

Use GameDay from MLB.com. It's very quick with little delay, updates continuously (without refreshing) and has lots of good info.

Um...so, the Braves are trying to make a comeback after everything went to hell last inning. With two outs, Chipper came off the bench and doubled home three. He's on third after Omar Infate singled. Useless Norton struck out, but MattE was hit by a pitch because he kinda looks weird. Up to Marteeeen.

Frenchy just hit a home run in Colorado to tie that game 2-2. Maybe he'll help the Braves make the playoffs after all!

Also, for those folks like me that are out of market, you can listen to the games online.

Why is Greg Norton getting ABs practically every night again? I'm SURE we've got some better hitters in the farm system than Greg Norton.

He's paid $800k to have a slg % below .200

His credentials as a pinch hitter are excellent, which justified his position on the team.

His performance this year has been atrocious, more than justifying his removal from the team, regardless of his previous history.

Bobby keeps looking for those past results, and Norton steadfastly refuses to comply.

This is the first time i've ever complained about Bobby Cox at all.....

that being said why the ef does he keep using that bum of a baseball player greg norton and why does he insist on overusing peter moylan, the poor guys arm is gonna fall off

I still love Bobby though

Bobby believes the 25th player is just as important as the superstars. I think I heard that somewhere once or a dozen times.

Bobby read "impotent" next to Norton's name and he thought it said "important".

Did I read it right? Wes Helms beats Gonzo with a ninth inning homer? Bet it was on a slider....Helms' bat probably can't catch a good fastball. Yup, slider-speed bat. Guess Gonzo's yanking his name outta the "Closers available" grab-bag for next year...Tough loss but you gotta love how this team came back off the floor to tie the game. I doubt if they would've done that back in May!

I hope so. I want the Braves to be able to afford him next year. He's very underrated by folks here. Before tonight's outing, which won't hurt the numbers all that much, he had a 2.30 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, a .205 BAA and 79 Ks in 62.2 IP. That homerun to Helms was only the fifth one he's given up all year.

People always talk about Gonzalez making them nervous when he comes into the game, but he's been great all year.

-Dr. Brave-

The homer pitch was a fastball up and in, but I think I saw Helms take a peek at McCann and was looking inside. I'm not sure it was Gonzo's best fastball, but it was a tough night for all the pitchers because of the extreme humidity.

I noticed that most of his fastballs were around 90-91 on the SportsSouth gun at the top of the screen. I think he hit 93 once.

Yeah, Gonzo's tired as hell. If we do win the WC, our worry about those arms.

"All I said when I first got out of the box was find a clue,” Diaz said. “Ronny did the right thing, any catcher would do and stand up and tell the runner to get to first and shut your mouth. And when that happened, an adrenaline spike hits that you really can’t control. So I kept telling him to find a clue if he’s going to throw inside. I don’t think he meant to, it was too big of a situation. He buzzed Omar, almost hit Omar in the head. I did yell 'if you keep throwing like that we’re all going to have to wear those goofy helmets.' :D It was kinda comical looking back on it now. It would have been really funny if we’d won the game.”

Alright, that makes it official. Matt Diaz just moved ahead of Mark Grace as my favorite player of all time with that quote. Although, I don't think that's "all" he said like he claims. Matty F-Bomb was a little more colorful than that if my lip-reading skills are accurate. I wish the stadium would have been as quiet as is was Tuesday. You would have been able to pick up that whole exchange pretty clearly.

Forget the farm system, we have guys on the BENCH who should be getting those at bats.

Bobby is guilty of managing like it's still April. Sure, in April you give a guy with a history the benefit of the doubt. A guy who slumps in April and May is probably gonna tear it up in June and July, if he has that history. But it's not April, it's September and Bobby is stll waiting for Norton to come around - and we're soooo close to making those last few games meaningful for the first time in a while. Bobby also left Medlen in too long for such a big game.

"Find a clue" fits perfectly for what I saw when I was trying to read his lips. My dad was sure he was say F*** You! but I knew Matt wouldn't yell that repeatedly. I don't care how much adrenaline he's got, he's not going to do that. It definitely looked like "Find a clue!" to me.
