What pitchers will the Braves keep for the playoff roster? And who will be delegated to AAA?
I've got to believe that we'd keep all 6 of our SPs... So that leaves us with 5 pitchers left.
The 11 pitchers I think that will contribute would be:
Vazquez
Jurrjens
Hanson
Lowe
Kawakami
Hudson
Medlen
O'Flaherty
Moylan
Gonzo
Soriano
That means that Boone Logan and Buddy Carlyle would be relegated to AAA for the playoffs. Thoughts?

yep, that's the roster i'd carry.....
whadyamean "if by some miracle..."???? I hope your using that phrase just to ward off evil spirits ala knock-on-wood and not because you think they actually need devine intervention just to overcome a paltry 3 game deficit with 30 whole games to play. For godsakes man have some faith. ;)

Have you checked out Colorado's schedule the rest of the way? :(

Damn right. With a month remaining, the Braves just need to get on a hot streak and string a bunch of wins together. It's doable if the offense does their job.

I checked that a few days ago. So gravy.

Yeah...I've got about 5 of em on my fantasy team now because I know their schedule very well. They've got about 20 games left against teams who have nothing left to play for except to topple over someone. Plus they have a boatload of home games. If the Rox had dominating starters they'd blow thru September. But after Jimenez they have a bunch of guys who've been hot for awhile but have a history that says they can go pretty cold too. And it's a weak bullpen as far as consistency in front of street. So...they'll be tough but not impossible by any stretch. If DeLaRosa and Marquis keep pitching like this they'll pass the Dodgers. Jiminez is the most under-hyped ace around. He's gonna be a perennial cy candidate despite the park.

The Braves are still in it but splitting series against playoff rivals certainly isn't going to cut it. We've got to start sweeping some series or at least take 2 of 3 the rest of the way.
If we don't make the wild card this year, these Braves may be the best Atlanta team that never made the playoffs. (The 1983 team wasn't bad and would've made it if the current wild card system was in place...but that team couldn't match the starting pitching of this year's team).

You can't expect to make the playoffs when coming down the stretch your 4-6 in your last 10 games. Especially when you have a series against the Padres in there. The 3 teams ahead of us in the Wildcard are 4-6, 6-4, 5-5 their last 10. If we were going to make a move this was the stretch to do it, while San Fran and Colorado were knocking eachother off.
I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I think we just blew our best opportunity we had to make a move. There's no way those three teams play .500 the rest of the way like they have recently. Lowe is regressing, As much as I like KK and think he has been improving, the games started will probably start getting to him, and as great as Hanson has been he's not getting deep into games. Also, I expect to get reamed for this from the JV lovers, but the 5 ER in 5 IP for JV in what was probably his biggest and most important game down the stretch so far, is a another very bad sign.

Why do you need 6 starting pitchers for a short series like the play-offs?

I'm guessing Kawakami and Hudson would be working out of the pen in that scenario.
