Tim Hudson is back on the mound tonight (http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090901&content_id=6725632&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb)--in the same location where he last threw a pitch in a major league regulation game. He'll face the enigmatic Anibal Sanchez.

The Braves need to concentrate their efforts on the NL Wild Card. They're currently three games back of the Giants and Rockies (who are tied).

Good luck Huddy! I'll be happy if he gives us 5+ innings and a lead when he exits.
(Of course, I'm happy if any starter can do that.)

The Wild Card chase makes this exciting, but wondering about Tim Hudson is putting this game over the top.

I can hardly wait...

Would they seriously show Spotlight Jeff Francoeur?

Would they seriously show Spotlight Jeff Francoeur?

You know, they do keep skipping his turn in the rotation. :)

If this rain delay goes another two hours, just maybe...

The rain seems to be moving out of the Miami area.

They never seem to realize they need to turn down their crowd microphones when there is only 15 people there.

-Dr. Brave-
09-01-2009, 11:16 PM
I think Boog and Joe's estimate of 500 fans is generous.

Huddy gets a huge strikeout.

2-run single by Cannot Cantu.

They'll figure that out after we hear someone tell a player to get their d!ck back in their pants.

A double play gets Hudson out of the inning.

This might be a night we will be searching for moral victories.

Balk ties the game at 2.

Hobbes
09-01-2009, 11:49 PM
Gotta like the game-tying balk.

And now McCann with the double. That's a damn good at-bat from McCann.

-Dr. Brave-

RBI double by McCann.

BRAVE SLEEVE!

That incessant whistling is starting to get on my nerves. I hope that's not Yunel doing that.

The Braves suddenly start swinging at every pitch.

Quick inning by Sanchez.

-Dr. Brave-
09-02-2009, 12:27 AM
No. He's been leading off for several games now, and doing well at it.

Matt Diaz is now hitting 14 for 28 in the leadoff spot, with 3 doubles and a homer, plus 2 walks and 2 HBPs (.500 BA, .563 OBP, .800 SLG).

4-3 Braves.

Uggla with a homer to make it a one-run game.

Okay, buckle down Soriano.

Hobbes

Wow, Uggla is 5-for-9 with 3 homers against Soriano.

Agent-X-
09-02-2009, 01:58 AM
Yeah. Definitely not the sort of match up you want.

I can't see Soriano making a strong case to be resigned at this rate... Grrr....

I'd sure like to bounce quarters off Cassidy Hubbarth's a$$.
Her face really bothers me, for some reason. It's in the eye area -- it's like her eyebrows are hiked halfway up her forehead and her eyes are teeny tiny below. The forceful way of speaking doesn't help, either. ...But then, I'm sure many of you haven't noticed her face. :D

That incessant whistling is starting to get on my nerves. I hope that's not Yunel doing that.
Sounded like Yunie to me. Now you know why Chipper hates it so much. ;)

I stayed awake through the 3rd, but recorded the rest of the game. During last night's rain delay, I put Huddy's Braves Live pre-game interview (http://braveslove.blogspot.com/2009/09/welcome-back-huddy.html) on my blog, if anyone wants to see it. :)

I always heard about Yunel's whistling, but I always thought they meant he was whistling songs or something like that. No, lastnight, he was just cutting loose really loud, like he was trying to get a dog's attention....in Orlando.

Classic Hudson moment before the game lastnight:

When Sportssouth interrupted "In My Own Words" to announce that the tarp was off and the groundscrew was prepping the field, some of the Braves players were walking out of the dugout onto the field. As he emerged out of the dugout, Hudson, tipped his hat to the 200-300 dead-silent fans as if they were giving him a standing ovation upon his return to action. Then he turned and gave a smart-a$$ grin to someone in the dugout.

I suspect her face wasn't much of a factor in the hiring process.

Besides, that's what light switches are for. Of course, that doesn't help if she won't stop talking... :(
