I know Kelly's not been awesome or anything...but starting the forgetful fish over him? Oh, yeah, he's a left-handed hitter.

Looks like the gang all went out last night and got hammered. That or someone's got a hold of Bobby's pictures again. Worst. Lineup. Ever.

I can hear some of the optimists in the crowd saying, "but don't we have the best bench in baseball tonight?"

Bowman looks nothing like I had him pictured.

This game hasn't been very exciting... at least we're keeping the Dodgers offense in check.

The Braves don't know how to handle a rundown and keep the runner at first from getting to second. I've seen them muff it multiple times.

I've been reading with the game on in the background. Not much has made me look up so far! I think I'm heading to bed soon.

JanShan12
08-09-2009, 12:42 AM
I feel the same, Lauren, but I'm going to tough it out. My fiance is at her Army drill this weekend and my brother is gone camping, so I'm home alone and need my Braves to entertain me.

On a side note, I bought tickets today for the Braves/Cardinals game on September 11 in St. Louis. I'm really excited!!!

Have to give credit to the motorbike tonight. He's been pretty darn good.

Hanson currently warming up in the bullpen?

08-09-2009, 01:09 AM
It's to give the pen a bit of a break. Plus its Hanson's day to throw on the side so it makes sense to use him if we need a starter to come out of the pen tonight.

BigWorm

David Ross made a terrible throw to second on a stolen base attempt.... whether it was catchable or not is debatable. Yunel pulled his glove back at the last minute, possibly to avoid contact.... David Ross was very upset at this and screamed "What the ****?" at the top of his lungs while looking at Escobar.

Runner on third no outs, Kawakami gets a groundout to short with the infield drawn in.
Now he walks Hudson to possibly set up the double play.

KK looks like he's done. He's already thrown more pitches tonight than he has in any previous game over here.

Time to pull him. Why are they letting him pitch with the bases loaded?

Huge K there.

I was extremely critical of leaving him out there. What a pitch to K Ausmus though!

BigWorm
08-09-2009, 01:23 AM
In your face Hobbes. Just kidding.

KK fans Ausmus for the third time tonight.

Two Down. Let's go KK.

Broxton in to face Prado, Anderson, and Escobar.

Ugh. Prado strikes out on an awful swing, if that's what you want to call it. 1 out.

Those seats to the sides of home plate really freak me out. I don't want to see people's legs, etc.

Now that was an excited dugout! I love seeing the guys get that excited and it's nice to see Kelly smiling again. They really seem to have a lot of team chemistry... including the support Prado and Kelly show for each other.

I saw that play...Ross has every right to be upset. yeah,he did make a bad throw, but that ball's got to be stopped from going into the outfield, no ifs ands or buts. Both esco and dioris are at fault.
I've had it with esco's nonchallant(spelling) play...and FU, Dioris....

at least it didn't cost us.....

good win by our braves

Probably the best ballgame I've seen in a long time. This was well worth the staying up way past my bedtime. My crying daughter at 7 am won't bother me at all. What an ending! You could tell that Rafael was out of gas, and it was amazing that Yunel was able to throw out a fleet footed Matt Kemp after diving up the middle to catch the ball.

If that's not the number one highlight on sportscenter, than I don't know what is. Good night everyone. Let's take 3 out of 4 tomorrow.

I was at a school reunion most of the night but was able to listen to most of the last three innings on radio. I got in the house and got the tube on in time to see the huge play Escy made to wrap up the game. Outstanding! It's just another reason I hope the Braves give him some leeway and we get to watch this guy become the NL shortstop to watch. Throw in an improving bat and great clutch hitting and we have a stud!

What a great game. Medlen is looking like he has a great future as a late inning reliever. He's already shown a tremendous ability to miss bats in the major leagues. Bobby's been easing him into a more important role in the bullpen. I was starting to think that he wouldn't do that, but it's obvious now that he thinks of Medlen as that type of pitcher. No other shortstop would have been able to throw Kemp out on that last play. Escobar is amazing.

The double high five and bear hug between Prado and Johnson was a priceless moment. Those guys root for each other. It's great to see from two major leaguers. I expect Soriano to get a few days off.

We could have been in line for a sweep, but let's take the series tomorrow and come home to get ready for the Nationals. Of course they get hot just before the Braves play them. Hopefully it won't matter. The Braves need to take those two games. Then it's the Phillies who come to town, and another sweep like the one in June would put us right there in the division race. It's time to make your run Braves. These last two wins have been awesome. Keep it up.

What a great series this has been. It's good to see the Braves winning close games and in extra innings, something that was unheard of in recent seasons.

I don't know how highly Bobby thinks of Medlen as a back end reliever yet. Moylan and Gonzo were unavailable so he was pretty much forced to use Medlen. I think Medlen is awesome, but I'm not sure if Bobby has great confidence in him yet, unless last night changed his mind.

Lets get Kelly some at bats in the outfield when Chipper's back. Anyone else happy we didn't trade him like some fans wanted to?
