Matty comes through with an RBI single to plate Esco and the Braves lead it.
And he follows that up by doing his best Rickey Henderson and swiping second.

All Adam LaRoche does is kill the opposition.
He's a beast.
2-0.
THAT is why I love stolen bases and believe speed is a huge asset to a team's offense.

Bases juiced for Derek Lowe...no double play...no double play...

Great at bat Nate. He picked up an RBI with a bases loaded walk.

I'm so glad LaRoche is here again. I know he won't last beyond this year, but it's nice to see that kid back here again.

They get a run because of a lucky hit and a successful hit and run with the pitcher. That sucks. At least we still have the lead.

Randy Wolf is one of the better pitchers nobody ever wants around. Hit-run play sets up a sacrifice fly by Juan Pierre, which angers me because Pierre should be completely useless, not somewhat helpful.

Lowe let Wolf steal second.
Seriously, Lowe, you're in a one-run ballgame and you totally forget about the runner? You don't have a big offense backing you to be stupid.

So...Chipper homered.
Don't know the final outcome yet, but I'm glad to see a strong start to this series.

Not a thing Manny could do with the slider from Peter Moylan's robotic right arm. The Dodgers strand a pair in the seventh.

Huge strikeout Moylan! I wonder what Chipper had to say to Moylan and McCann.

Sometimes, Bobby Cox makes my head hurt.
Like sending Moylan up to bat.
My head just imploded.

So...instead of doing a double switch with Church in the seventh...he brings him in to play right field in the 8th.
Why does Bobby do the things that he does?

nice throw there by adam to get the lead runner. good call by joe.

A first baseman doesn't make an impact with his arm very often, but Joe called that one.

Another huge strikeout for Moylan. We're going into the ninth with a two run lead. Let's add to it.

And the Aussie gets out of it.
Still hate the decision, but Cox got the results.

Chipper swipes second.
Yes, he can still do that.

Dammit, bring Moylan back in.
/we can't do that?

...this is reminding me a lot of Soriano in '07. Unhittable first half, homers galore in the second half.

That was a fun game until the last pitch.

Man.... Those are the worst kind of losses to stomach. We give up 2 runs in 8 innings, only to give up 3 runs in the most important last inning. Seems to me like when Soriano is on, he's nearly unhittable, but when he's off, he's off.
It seems (this is all perception, I didn't research) that it seems pretty obvious when he's on, and when he isn't from the very first batter he faces. I wonder if Bobby will start to pay attention to this and yank him if he has a shaky start. (Well, I know BC won't but it's an interesting thought nonetheless).
Ethier has KILLED us. I hate that guy as a player against the Braves.
