Adam Milligan (6), OF – Another Community College pick, this time from Walters State in North-Eastern Tennessee; the Braves seemed to have fallen in love with JuCo players in the middle rounds the last few years. This year, the JuCo players seem to be going higher than normal. And indeed this player in particular has been of continuing interest to the Braves as they drafted him in the 27th round in last year’s draft and also drafted him in the 2006 draft in the 28th round (maybe third time is a charm). Milligan is a left-handed power bat with decent defensive skills and was rated as the 10th best prospect in the state of Tennessee.


This guy is being a monster. In Danville this year he batted .439, 2 homers, 5 doubles, a triple, 3 BB and only 7 k's in 41 ABs before they promoted him to Rome. At Rome he is batting .357 with 8 homers, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 7 BB, and 24 K's in 112 Abs.

Looks like another diamond in the rough. If we tried to draft this guy 3 times we obviously saw something we liked. Since he was a college guy I hope they move him up fast and challenge him as obviously he's up for it.

Milligan got some play in the Baseball Prospectus Minor League Update as a Sleeper Alert after his first 33 SALLY league games produced a .358/.403/.650 campaign. Considered to have a very raw plate approach, but a monster ceiling.

The legend of OF Adam Miligan continues to grow, as he moves up to Myrtle Beach after playing for both Danville and Rome this season. In 61 games for those 2 teams, the first year player hit .361 with an astounding 1.029 OPS that included 12 home runs and 43 RBI.

At first I thought your post read more like an obituary... then I did a web search and discovered you had posted a blurb from a movie site about Super Natural.

Funny coincidence though. I only realized it wasn't real when Adam's parents were reportedly killed by ghouls. :p
