Off to run a couple errands and home before the 3rd inning... that's my goal anyway. :)

Superb first for the Phenom. He needed just seven pitches, the last of which, Manny Ramirez swung through for the third out.

Way to make quick work in the first inning, Tommy.

Two at-bats, two pop-ups. Disappionting for KJ, who had a 3-1 count but only popped up to Furcal.

Larry works a five-pitch walk to become the first baserunner of the game. Time for yesterday's hero.

Does it feel like to anyone else McCann hasn't had an off day in July aside for days when the Braves weren't playing?

Is there no HD on this broadcast?

Well, on the plus side, Schmidt threw 22 pitches.

On the negative side...no runs.

one of my good friends is such a HUGE dodgers fan. We better frickin win this series...lol

Quiet second for Hanson with the righty picking up his second strikeout.

Dreamscape
07-31-2009, 08:03 PM
Well, that inning officially sucked.

Officially.

Dreamscape

Hanson gives up a single to Hudson and a sacbunt and a wild pitch put him on third, but Hanson gets Furcal swinging on the 8th pitch of the at-bat. Took guts for the kid to go with the slider on a 3-2 pitch after having the previous slider called ball three.

Schmidt throws an 88 mph fastball and an 85 mph changeup.

And somehow, Braves hitters are off-balance.

Dreamscape

KJ draws a walk, the third one issued by Schmidt. Maybe Chipper can get a two-out rally going with a hit.

A homer wouldn't suck, either.

Dreamscape

Chipper comes through with a liner into center. KJ advances to third and McCann has a shot to put the Braves ahead with runners on the corners and two outs.

Le sigh.

Good job by Hanson to get out of the top of the fourth. After an out, Manny and Blake each singled, but Hanson worked through it without any runners advancing. Now if only the Atlanta Braves hitters would understand that Jason Schmidt isn't a Cy Young contender anymore...

Why did the Braves and 28 OTHER teams let O-Dog sit around and not get signed for so long, before Dodger Blue got to him?

D'oh! Furcal gets an error!

Dreamscape
07-31-2009, 08:39 PM
There we go...Braves offense. Getting the other team to commit errors. It's all a mindgame, really.

Dreamscape

Great job by Diaz swiping second, though it ends up taking the bat out of Diory's vastly uncapable hands. I'm a big fan of aggressively trying to get the extra base with the 8th place hitter coming up/at bat. At worst, this clears Hanson.

hoosjon
07-31-2009, 08:45 PM
And (the worst), it cleared Hanson.

You know Braves...Schmidt sucks.

I'm just sayin'...

Dreamscape

He leads off next inning...last 17 games for McLouth - .212/.346/.348

The on-base looks good, but the Braves need McLouth to do a better job at the plate. He's had a pair of quick, ineffective at-bats already. Third time through the order and the Braves need to get going. Hopefully, Hanson keeps it tied for them.

Crap!

Well, that sucked.

Hanson's ERA goes over 3 again.

Just BARELY crap, too ... a few feet shorter ... and.

If we were hitting with RISP, I wouldn't be as sad.

Andre Ethier is one of my favorite players. Too bad he had to do that to us...

Wow...Norton made a non-out.

A non-out!!!!

After a pair of K's, Chipper loads the bases with a walk.

Hey, McCann, wanna be a hero again?

...or no.

The Braves have to lead the league in stranding bases loaded.

That was a terrible call on McCann. What the hell did we ever do to the umpires of major league baseball? They hate us.

Sometimes, you have to swing the bat and quit taking close pitches.

I know we're talked about this before, but we rise up for the big fellas ... Lincecum, Santana, etc. or our division leaders, but not for Jason Schmidt? And the Dodgers are even good! NO adrenaline, boys? 3 stinking hits and 0 for 6 with RISP?

I think that's what bothers me, when I feel like they're capable, but they're just not achieving. (Kind of like Garrett Anderson's speed ... he looks like he's so old that dirt is following off of him and then tears around the bases for a triple and you're like "Where'd THAT come from?")

I'm actually very surprised he's keeping his weight down. He usually looks like he's going to have a heat stroke around this time of year. :)
