This (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4353256) is posted elsewhere, but not in a dedicated thread, so here (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-cardinals-athleticstrade&prov=ap&type=lgns) you go. Matt Holliday to St. Louis for Brent Wallace.

If Wallace can stay at third (haven't heard about his defense) and his power develops, a nice haul for Beane considering Holliday's value has shrunk so low. Could finally give the A's a long-term option at third, something they have lacked since Eric Chavez started to get hurt every other day.
Still, hardly what Beane thought when he acquired Holliday. Even in the worst case, Holliday should have brought more than one prospect.
And people were thinking Yunel Escobar + others would get him to Atlanta?

Wallace is one of the best hitting prospects out there right now and with his defense being, um, let's say sub-par, he'll probably end up at 1B. The down side for him in this deal is that Oakland's park sucks for hitters.

I attended the A's -Twins game in Oakland two days ago and Holliday looked great to me (3 for 3 and all his hits were ropes)...he's been having a great July and should really help the Cards down the stretch.

ESPN has been saying it was three prospects.

Good Lord, the Cardinal fans around here are ecstatic (and obnoxious.) They've already got Holliday signed to an extension, Pujols signed to an extention because of Holliday's protection, and several more World Series Trophies on their mantles of delusion. God forbid anybody try to talk sense into them about Holliday being a Boras client and destined for the open market after this season. They spin it all around and tell you how baseball-ignorant you are and then draw the "10 World Series Titles to your ____" argument like Clint Eastwood draws a pistol in a Spaghetti Western. :banghead:

I understand the frustration. I live in St. Louis. Cardinal fans LOVE their team and you can't fault them for that. That's why I'm on ChopNation so much... I need to hear something other than Cardinal baseball all the time.
