Man, I love watching Hanson pitch... Cook is a very solid pitcher as well, should be a nice pitching duel.

Cook schooled the Braves with a 4 hit shutout back in May. Then we turned around and beat Roy Halladay (actually his relief) the next day. Let's hope the offense shows up a little better against him tonight.

A win tonight with Frenchy starting and Chipper on the bench would prove that Francoeur is better than Chipper.

Hmmm...I'm a little concerned that Hanson isn't quite as good as his numbers currently reflect. He's not missing many bats, and he's getting more flyballs than groundballs.

Hanson has put up some really good numbers, and done so at the very beginning of his major league career. I think that says a lot. Not to mention he shut down both the Yankees and the Red Sox in his fourth and fifth start in the ML's ...Hanson = $

Contrary to popular belief, not every great pitcher was a great pitcher to start off his career. They can't all be Tim Lincecum.

I don't know if it was that way in the minors or not, but from I can tell he's a fly ball pitcher. That's fine though. He's got the stuff, he locates well, and he's got serious poise. I think we can allow ourselves to get excited about this guy. I don't think he's another Davies.

Random stat of the night.....
For the past year and a half, Kotchman and Matt Holliday have the same amount of road homeruns.

Jeff Francoeur hit his second double of the night and Brooks Conrad drove him in with a base hit up the middle. Braves lead again, 5-4. Hanson's staying in and is trying to bunt Conrad over.

Now that time GA's fielding definitely cost a run.
That's the price you pay for trotting the same pitcher out there night after night.

I'm really having a hard time believing Gonzalez is a closer. I'm not really at that confident when he comes into games. Frankly, I won't mind seeing him leave next year.

I don't know how much he's paid, but he's NOT good enough to be a closer or paid like one. I don't mind him in our 'pen, but I mind paying him too much for it, ya know?
I wouldn't sign him next year. He'll ask for too much and other teams will match or exceed what he's worth. That said, we could use him this year, if we plan on making the playoffs.

At this point I trust Eric O more than Gonzalez. Gonzo has been solid for his career but seems to be really struggeling and since the Braves can't afford to sign both him and Soriano who are FA I say trade Gonzalez and a prospect for a bat and then use some of that cash to re-sign Soriano.
