I'll go ahead and get a gamethread started. I'm going to mow some grass now so I'll have time to watch Teheran tomorrow night.

Heyward gets a night off. Good call I think, as he seems to still be pressing.

The Braves get the first two aboard but fail to score in the first.

Go Braves!

Just tuned in. Somehow the Braves put 3 on the board, but I don't know how. 3-0 Braves.

Lee has 8 K's through 4 innings.

LeeTro

The Braves hit 3 doubles and a single in a 5-pitch span to get the 3 runs. The strikezone is all over the place so far, so this could get interesting.

Tha umpire behind the plate is VERY inconsistent. Especially low pitches.

Phillies announcers said earlier that McCann only had one double coming into this game. How is it possible that McCann went more than a month with only one double?

Hobbes

Braves are really helping by striking out. Lee now has 13 strikeouts through 6 innings. That already matches his career high.

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 08:41 PM
Lowe has himself a nice little game going so far.

Lowe has himself a nice little game going so far.

Yes he does.....;)

Having to run the bases this inning might not help things.

Hobbes

16 K's for Lee now through 7.

LeeTro
05-06-2011, 08:53 PM
Thankfully that will probably be it for Lee, since he's at 117 pitches.

RiknTN

Lowe is not long for the game with a bum right leg.

Velocity down now.

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 08:57 PM
Lowe has something wrong with his right foot. Bullpen is up in case he has to come out.

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 08:57 PM
Victorino with the first hit off of Lowe.

LeeTro
05-06-2011, 08:58 PM
Pitching with bad legs is a great way to hurt an arm. He needs to come out immediately.

Andy G.

Well there goes the no-hit bid, and Lowe stays in the game. I think it might be a toe that's bothering him.

LeeTro
05-06-2011, 08:59 PM
I wonder if it's that blister problem he had last year.

RiknTN
05-06-2011, 08:59 PM
No velocity with his right leg hurting. all pitches are in low or only mid 80's.

Agreed. I wouldn't give Lowe a chance to lose this game.

The rare double-trainer visit for Lowe and Polanco.

Andy G.
05-06-2011, 09:04 PM
I really believe it's a toe. He kicked the ground with his back leg after a pitch this inning and started hopping around like it really hurt. After that it looked like he was making a real effort to not kick his toes into the ground on his follow through.

RiknTN

1 pitch too many......

Andy G.

1 pitch too many......
What sucks is Polanco barely got a peace of the pitch just before that one. Had he not tipped it, he would have struck out, and Gonzalez was heading out of the dugout to take Lowe out of the game before he realized it was tipped.

-Dr. Brave-

They showed a replay of Lowe's base hit. He ran gingerly down the line and really hobbled after rounding the bag. I don't think he hurt it during that at-bat though, which might suggest a blister or toenail problem.

-Dr. Brave-

O'Flaherty with his 18th appearance already.

And he strikes out Howard. 1 out, runners 2nd and 3rd.

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 09:11 PM
Two big K's from O'Flaherty there. One more.

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 09:13 PM
Nice job O'Flaherty!

Andy G.
05-06-2011, 09:14 PM
O'Flaherty!!

What a great year O'Flaherty's having.

Lee's not back out for the 8th.

05-06-2011, 09:16 PM

Lee is out. Of his 117 pitches, 87 were strikes, only 30 balls. Amazing.

J.C. Romero pitching.

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:23 PM
Venters in to pitch the 8th, and Heyward in for defense in RF.

Heyward will bat 2nd in the 9th inning.

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:33 PM
Venters with a perfect 8th.

Heyward singles with 1 out and steals second base.

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 09:33 PM
They send Heyward to test Ibanez's arm and he makes it!

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:33 PM
Martin Prado follows on the next pitch with an RBI single.

4-0 Braves!

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 09:35 PM
The throw had Heyward beat if the catcher fields it cleanly.

Hobbes
05-06-2011, 09:36 PM
Gonzo with an RBI single but he gets caught in a rundown.

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:40 PM
Kimbrel will go ahead and pitch the 9th after already having warmed up prior to the 2 runs scoring.

You know, I feel kinda bad that we're beating up on a team with so many injuries like the Phillies have.

Not really. Beat the hell out of them Philthies!

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:45 PM
Jimmy Rollins draws an 11-pitch walk to lead off the 9th.

Not sure why Freeman is holding him on.

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:47 PM
A popout and a groundout brings Howard to the plate.

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:49 PM
Braves win their 6th straight!

Hobbes

Braves win!

Nice to start the series with a win, particularly against Lee.

-Dr. Brave-
05-06-2011, 09:52 PM
Braves were struck out 18 times tonight, but won 5-0. :headscratch:

Phils lead the Braves by 3½ games.

Phils lead the Braves by 3½ games.
It would be nice to leave town trailing by 1½ games.

The Braves have not given up an earned run in 28 consecutive innings.
