[B]I was wondering what you guys think this kid will do this year. He will be batting 9th in a loaded Red Sox lineup but will be their primary catcher with Jason Varitezk as backup, I envision a line like 59-15-60-0-.2562 but it hit me that that is realistic but we always thought he would be a lot more than that. Anyone want to share what you think his line would look like?[B]

I think his BA will be closer to .275/.280 with about 75 RBI, 60 runs scored, 12-15 homers, On base percentage of about .345.

thanx! I don't see that unreasonable at all. I think if given more regular AB';s he could end up living up to his hype.

I don't know how much above .250 he can hit. He's struck out 30% of his AB's in the majors and had a 25% K rate in AAA last year, so 30% is probably close to his true talent level. He's hit .248 with a .330 BABIP in the majors, so he's been performing as well as he can without striking out less. Something around a .240/.310/.410 line is probable, and slightly below-average hitting catchers are good, as long as his throwing issues are gone.
