I don't know exactly why ( unless maybe they see LOOGY potential ) The Braves just purchased John Halama from some Maryland Independent league team.

It's simply a move for AAA depth. Gwinnett lost Hanson, Morton, and Medlen -- they need some arms.
Something will have gone horribly wrong if you see him in Atlanta.

I'm convinced having prospects develop in a more winning environment helps them develop. I don't have any numbers and the typical canned response is that development is independent. When Hanson answered questions for the site I posed the question and got that answer. It could be a situation where really good environments help development while losing environments are neutral. The basic idea I have it this is a variable in development. With this move the Braves got a quality AAA starter with no major league future instead of going the route of a bad pitcher who could theoretically be good when pigs fly and read "Built to Win" as they fly into Turner Field. Most people probably will look at the news and be confused about why the Braves got a dead end pitcher. I like the news because I want to see the Braves farm system compete for championships even if the major leaguers are in trouble.
